The Cop28 summit in the UAE happening on 30 November until 12 December 2023 underscores the country’s dedication to environmental sustainability and its ambition to shape a cleaner, greener future for generations to come. As world leaders gather to address the pressing issues of climate change, the UAE’s role as a champion of clean energy will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the global stage, inspiring nations to join forces in the fight against climate change.

The UAE has emerged as a beacon of environmental stewardship, with a visionary commitment to clean energy. The country has set ambitious targets to diversify its energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint. A testament to this is the recently completed world’s largest single-site solar power plant located in Abu Dhabi. The two-gigawatt Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic Project features 4 million solar panels, capable of powering approximately 200,000 households. The plant is expected to reduce Abu Dhabi’s carbon emissions by 2.4 million tonnes annually, equivalent to removing over half a million cars from the road.
