The country has set ambitious targets to diversify its energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint. A testament to this is the recently completed world’s largest single-site solar power plant located in Abu Dhabi. The two-gigawatt Al Dhafra Solar Photovoltaic Project features 4 million solar panels, capable of powering approximately 200,000 households. The plant is expected to reduce Abu Dhabi’s carbon emissions by 2.4 million tonnes annually, equivalent to removing over half a million cars from the road.
